The fledgling LA-based production, finance and sales company is teaming up to fully finance and co-produce The Unpleasant Profession Of Jonathan Hoag. Alex Proyas will direct and his Mystery Clock Cinema also produces.

Red Granite’s Riza Aziz and Joey McFarland will serve as producers alongside Bradley Fischer of Mythology Entertainment, Mike Medavoy and Arnie Messier of Phoenix Pictures, Proyas through his Mystery Clock Cinema and Vince Gerardis. Joe Gatta, Topher Dow and Vincent Sieber serve as executive producers.

Proyas, whose credits include I, Robot as well as Knowing and Dark City, will shoot in Australia where he resides and runs Mystery Clock. The producers anticipate an autumn start.

Red Granite International will handle foreign sales on the project, based on a screenplay Proyas adapted from a 1942 novella by Robert Heinlein

The Unpleasant Profession Of Jonathan Hoagfollows the protagonist as he realizes he cannot recall what he does during the day and hires husband and wife detectives to help him. Intrigue ensues. The original story inspired Proyas to make Dark City.

Hoag marks the first of several projects between Red Granite and Mythology Entertainment, which is run by Fischer, James Vanderbilt and Laeta Kalogridis.
