Corsan's Emperor set for September shoot with Sophie Cookson

The Screen International UK Star Of Tomorrow will star alongside Adrien Brody and Thomas Kretschmann in Corsan’s imminent shoot, which the company will introduce to buyers in Toronto next month.

Paradigm represents US rights to the long-gestating 16th century action-adventure. Cookson plays a young woman who infiltrates the court of the embattled Holy Roman Emperor Charles V to avenge the death of her father.

Lee Tamahori remains at the helm and will commence principal photography on September 1 in the Czech Republic and Belgium.

Paz Vega, Oliver Platt, Gotz Otto, Bill Skarsgard and Rutger Hauer have also been confirmed in the key cast. Eddie Marsan is in discussions.

Cookson plays the young protagonist and will next be seen in Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman: The Secret Service. Michael Thomas III wrote the original screenplay and Jeffrey Hatcher adapted.

Corsan founder and CEO Paul Breuls produces alongside Michael John Fedun and COO Catherine Vandeleene. Guy Tannahill serves as executive producer.

Corsan previously collaborated with Tamahori on The Devil’s Double and with Brody on Third Person.

Corsan’s development pipeline includes Expiration and Confessions Of An Economic Hitman. In May Corsan announced it had taken an equity position on Martin Scorsese’s upcoming adaptation Silence and will act as co-producer.
