He also co-wrote the script and co-produces the film with his production company MNP Enterprise. Nord-Ouest Productions, France 2 Cinema, Studio 37, UGC YM also produce with Christophe Rossignon and Philip Boëffard as producers. Kassovitz additionally heads the cast together with Sylvie Testud and Alexandre Steiger. The $18m (€14m) production is based on true events that took place on April 22, 1988, in Ouvea, New Caledonia, when a group of Kanak freedom fighters took police as hostages, fleeing with them to a nearby island. Kinology and Studio 37 have been appointed as international sales agents and UGC will distribute in France.

Rafta Rafta, the new feature by Nigel Cole, whose latest film Made In Dagenham will receive its world premiere in Toronto this week, is currently shooting at the Three Mills Studios in London. Starring Meera Syal, Reece Ritchie, Amara Karan and Christine Bottomley the comedy centres on two newlyweds in an immigrant Indian community in Northern England who find it hard to consummate their marriage. Scripted by Ayub Khan-Din (East Is East), the film is produced by Andy Harries and Suzanne Mackie for Left Bank Pictures. Optimum will release in the UK.

German-Serbian-French co-production Practical Guide To Belgrade With Singing And Crying is about four couples from different nations who meet in present-day Belgrade and experience the small impossibilities of big love. Directed by Bojan Vuletic, the film is produced by TR9 Film, Art & Pop Corn and Les Films du Requin with Oliver Röpke, Miroslav Mogorovic and Jean Des Forets as respective producers. The romantic drama was co-written by the director with Stefan Arsenijevic and is in its last leg of shooting in Belgrade (the first half of the film was shot in Erfurt, Germany). Leon Lucev, Julie Gayet, Jean-Marc Barr, Baki Davrak and Marko Janketichead the cast.
