Major Spanish producers Tornasol Films are set to co-produce a romantic comedy called Con Quien Sueña Gabi? alongside Carlos Santurio’s El Garaje Producciones with Jordi Arencon’s Apocalipsis Producciones as associate producers.

The project is currently in development and is based on a script by Santurio, Arencon and renowned TV writer Covadonga Espeso [pictured] about a Mexican girl living in Spain who struggles to make it as a dancer and so decides to leave to live in Colombia, but on her final night in Spain meets a man who could change her life forever.

“Santurio initiated the project and we are currently looking for the final bit of financing with the intention of shooting at the end of the summer,” Jordi Arencon of Apocalipsis Producciones told ScreenDaily.

The producers plan to have important Spanish actors in the cast and anticipate having respected film maker Ines Paris onboard as director, confirmed Arencon, who is also working on a thriller called Predeterminados about four people who track each other down in a city for prize money.

Con Quien Sueña Gabi’s co-producers Tornasol Films have a great track record of success, including most recently with their romantic drama The Secret In Their Eyes, which won the foreign-language Oscar in 2010, and romantic comedy Sex, Party & Lies, which took nearly $10m in Spain and sold all over the world though Latido Films.

Tornasol is also currently working with Haddock Films on the thriller Everybody Has A Plan, starring Viggo Mortensen, which has been picked up by Fox International Productions for worldwide rights.
