Oscar-nominated actress also plays the lead in Higher Ground inspired by Carolyn Briggs’ novel.

Vera Farmiga has begun production on her directorial debut Higher Ground in Kerhonkson, New York. Farmiga is also starring in the lead role of the film which is inspired by Carolyn Briggs’ novel about the journey of a troubled young woman from childhood to motherhood.

Renn Hawkey, Carly Hugo, Claude Dal Farra and Jon Rubinstein are producing the BCDF Pictures film; Jonathan Burkhart, Brice Dal Farra, Lauren Munsch and Matt Parker are executive producers.

Joining Farmiga in the cast are Joshua Leonard, John Hawkes, Norbert Leo Butz, Dagmara Dominczyk, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Bill Irwin and Donna Murphy.
