Principal photography commenced today in Georgia on the adaptation of John Steinbeck’s novel.

Zach Braff and Josh Hutcherson are among the final actors to join James Franco’s In Dubious Battle.

Principal photography commenced today [March 18] in Georgia on the adaptation of John Steinbeck’s novel which centres on the struggle between labour and capital in 1930s America.

Braff and Hutcherson join alongside Analeigh Tipton, Ashley Greene and Ahna O’Reilly. They join the already-cast Franco, Selena Gomez, Vincent D’Onofrio, Robert Duvall, Ed Harris, Bryan Cranston, Nat Wolff, John Savage and Sam Shepherd.

The novel was adapted by Matt Roger and the film will be produced by Andrea Iervolino and Lady Monika Bacardi’s AMBI Pictures, Rabbit Bandini Productions and That’s Hollywood Pictures Production.

AMBI Distribution co-represents the film’s domestic rights with CAA.

In Dubious Battle was published in 1936 and is considered the first major work from Steinbeck.
