Lionsgate releases delivered more than $1.726bn worldwide in 2014, fuelled by a $1.032bn international tally that included $363m from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1.
The studio’s next best hit outside the US was Divergent, the first in the YA franchise starring Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Miles Teller and Kate Winslet, on $137.9m.
Big earners included 2014 best picture Oscar winner 12 Years A Slave on $126.9m, Pompeii on $94.6m, Transcendence on $86.3m and Step Up All In on $73.8m.
Lionsgate’s US champion was Mockingjay – Part 1 on $306.7m, followed by Divergent on $150.9m. John Wick has grossed $42.8m and counting.
Pantelion titles Cesar Chavez, Cantinflas and Mas Negro Que La Noche grossed $5.6m, $6.4m and $870,000 respectively.
