Moving Pictures Film & TV (MPF&TV) will release the Keanu Reeves rom-com in North America after Maitland Primrose Group acquired rights in a deal brokered by CAA.

Henry’s Crime premiered in Toronto International Film Festival and stars Reeves as a toll collector who meets a special woman as he prepares to embark upon a criminal enterprise. James Caan, Vera Farmiga, Fisher Stevens and Judy Greer round out the cast.

Malcolm Venville directed from a screenplay by executive producer Sacha Gervasi and David White from a story by Stephen Hamel and Gervasi.

Stephen Hamel of Santa Monica-based Company Films, Mimran Schur’s David Mimran and Jordan Schur and Lemore Syvan produced. Firstar Films’ Scott Fischer, Gervasi, Mark Fischer, Cassian Elwes, Alison Palmer, Peter Graham, Stephen Hays, and GK Films’ Lisa Wilson served as executive producers.

Wilson is handling international sales through her Parlay Films. CAA brokered the US deal with Gary Hirsch and Ted Chalmer on behalf of Maitland Primrose Group and MPF&TV.

“This film went through a very unique development process, a deeply collaborative one between Keanu, Sacha and I,” Hamel said. “Once we pinned down a rather elusive, existential story, we were able to create something that most people can relate to, coming to a place in our lives where we question whether or not we’ve made the right choices.”

“Coming off of a strong AFM for Moving Pictures, we are thrilled to announce our acquisition of Henry’s Crime,” Margaret Tritch of the international servicing and advisory company Maitland Primrose Group said. “We have been aggressively increasing the calibre and number of our acquisitions this year.”
