The studio acquisition marked the second high profile domestic sale in one day for a key US project on the eve of EFM.

Summit International is handling foreign sales and will commence talks this week with buyers in Berlin on Larry Crowne, which reunites Tom Hanks (pictured) and Julia Roberts for the first time since Charlie Wilson’s War.

Hanks wrote the screenplay with Nia Vardalos and will direct the story of a man who loses his job and enrols in college where he finds friendship, reinvents himself, and catches the eye of a female professor.

Production is scheduled to begin in Los Angeles in April. Hanks and his Playtone partner Gary Goetzman will produce, with Vendome’s Philippe Rousselet serving as executive producer.

CAA represents Playtone and brokered the deal for domestic rights.

Earlier in the day Summit Entertainment announced it had taken domestic rights to the Untitled Seth Rogen / James McAvoy Project.
