Warp Films’ drama Adolescence has continued its dominance of the international awards circuit, scooping the most nominations for the UK’s Bafta TV and Television Craft Awards.
The Jack Thorne-penned drama secured 11 nods, ahead of the eight handed to last year’s leader, Baby Reindeer, also for Netflix.
Adolescence follows in the footsteps of its Netflix sibling in capturing the most nominations for a single show for the streamer, ahead of rival Disney+’s A Thousand Blows (seven nominations) and sci-fi title Andor (six).
Adolescence is in the running for best limited series with ITV1’s I Fought The Law, C4’s Trespasses and BBC3 series What It Feels Like for A Girl.
It also scored nominations for leading actor (Stephen Graham), supporting actor (Ashley Walters and Owen Cooper), and supporting actress (Christine Tremarco and Erin Doherty).
Across craft, Thorne and Graham scored nods in the writing category, Philip Barantini is nominated for director – fiction, Matthew Lewis in photography and lighting, Shaheen Baig for scripted casting, and James Drake, Jules Woods, Rob Entwistle, Kiff McManus, Kyle Pickford and Adam Méndez for sound – fiction.
Period boxing drama A Thousand Blows, which also stars Graham and Doherty, is in contention for best drama series, with ITV1’s Deaf drama Code Of Silence and BBC1 crime drama This City Is Ours. Doherty secured her second nomination for leading actress.
The BBC comfortably led nominations overall with 73 across both craft and TV categories.
