Media Asia Distribution has sold Bruce Lee, My Brother, a biopic of the Hong Kong action legend, to a slew of territories including North America which was snapped up by The Weinstein Co.

The film, which was made to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Lee’s birth, has also gone to Icon Movies for Australia/New Zealand, Showbox for the UK and Kulangsu for Ex-USSR.

Media Asia has also closed a string of Asian deals on the film, including Japan (A-Pock Japan), for an undisclosed seven-digit figure, Singapore (Encore Film), Malaysia (Ram Entertainment), Indonesia (P.T.Teguh Bakti Mandiri), Thailand (Sahamongkol) and Taiwan (Applause).

Co-directed by Manfred Wong and Raymond Yip Wai Man, the film features Aarif Lee (Echoes Of The Rainbow) playing the role of Bruce Lee and also stars Tony Leung Kar-fai and Christy Chung. It follows the action star’s early days through the eyes of his younger brother.

Media Asia also sold Taiwanese rights to recent pick-up Kidnapper, directed by Kelvin Tong, to Applause, while Legend Of The Fist: The Return Of Chen Zhen went to Atlantic Films for Scandinavia. 

Applause also snapped up Life Without Principle and Don’t Go Breaking My Heart, both directed by Johnnie To, Law Wing Cheong’s Punished and Andrew Lau’s Beautiful Life.

Punished also went to Singapore’s Clover Film and Malaysia’s Golden Screen Cinemas. Golden Screen also took Life Without Principle, Don’t Go Breaking My Heart and Beautiful Life. Clover took Beautiful Life and Don’t Go Breaking My Heart.
