Talking to Louise Tutt, Screen’s deputy editor, Tuttle reveals what she is doing differently for her second edition in charge, highlights this year’s diverse lineup of titles, and explains how she thinks hard about what the festival can do to help the industry and support the German and international theatrical business.

“Sometimes we lose sight when we’re looking at a big international festival,” Tuttle said. “We only look at those ones that are travelling, that are impactful in an Anglophone context. There are actually all kinds of levels of success that we want to be able to enable.”

They delve into how Tuttle is working to better support sales agents and buyers this year and beyond.

“One way is trying to make the distinctions between our sections sharper again, because I felt when I came in that maybe they had become a little compressed,” Tuttle said. “It was hard to tell what was Encounters or Competition or Forum or Panorama. I’m working with the section heads to sharpen those so that the right buyers can find the right films.”
