EXCLUSIVE: Dirk Oerlemans’s digital talent and media sales outfit The Hybrid Creators (THC) is at the EFM with Dutch director Morgan Grunefeld’s comedy drama RebelDogs, which features AI-generated “hybrid actors” that THC said buyers can overlay with the faces of local celebrities.

Amsterdam-based THC and San Fu Maltha’s Fu Works jointly represent worldwide sales on the completed feature, which follows a real estate developer on the brink of collapse who falls for a lawyer and rising NFT (non-fungible token) artist against the backdrop of a global freedom movement.

Lawrence Sheldon, Joshua Rubin and July Janssen star and the cast includes hybrid actors called “Jordan Diaz” and “Jenny James”. They were created by layering synthetic faces over the bodies of human performers who originally played the roles and have consented to the possibility of overlays for which theyhave been compensated.

Territory buyers who would like to supplant the hybrid actors’ faces can now pay THC to use its AI process to create 3D scans of local celebrities, influencers, singers or actors. THC will enter into licensing agreements with the local talent.

THC is fully financing the film, and Oerlemans wrote the screenplay, co-directed and produced the feature. It shot in Amsterdam and around the Netherlands in autumn 2025.

“Our hybrid actors open up a multitude of marketing and publicity opportunities for distributors by featuring local stars tailored to their market,” said Oerlemans. “The technology is incredible and the possibilities are endless. There’s a huge upside moving forward as production costs are lowered through hybrid acting, supported by deeper audience engagement.”
