Death Has No Master
Venezuelan director Jorge Thielen Armand’s thriller stars Asia Argento as a woman who heads to Venezuela to sell her late father’s cacao plantation, only to find the family mansion occupied by its former workers, whereupon a dangerous game of manipulation unfolds. Armand produced through his Canadian-Venezuelan company La Faena alongside Italy’s Volos Films Italia and Luxembourg’s Deal Productions, with support from Telefilm Canada, Film Fund Luxembourg, and the Guggenheim Foundation, among others.

The Exiles
Sam Worthington, David Duchovny, and Ke-Xi Wu will star in the thriller from Midi Z, inspired by true events about a desperate Westerner’s pursuit of greener pastures in Asia, where greed, rivalry and ego ultimately spiral into murder. Principal photography has begun in Taipei, Taiwan. Anita Gou, Tom Heller, Claudia Tseng, and Midi Z serve as producers, while Killer Films’ Christine Vachon, Gabi Meyers, and Wu are as executive producers.

Sweat
Ana de Armas will star in the psychological thriller as a fitness influencer who, after a bad encounter with her idol, is forced into a dangerous arrangement with an obsessive fan that tests her desire for fame. AGC Studios will finance and co-produce the project, with Rosto Inc. and Crimple Beck, based on Magnus von Horn’s Polish 2020 Cannes Label selection of the same name. Production is scheduled to begin on March 30 in Los Angeles and the UK. WME Independent, CAA Media Finance, and AGC jointly represent US rights.

This Is Pleasure
Jessica Chastain and Chris Pine star in the story of a woman who must decide what to do when her closest friend, a publisher, is accused of misconduct. Shari Springer Berman and Rubert Pulcini, who garnered an adapted screenplay Oscar nod in 2004 for American Splendor, direct from Nina Raine’s screenplay adapted from the #MeToo novella by Mary Gaitskill. The Fremantle production is being produced by Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler of Killer Films alongside Chastain’s Freckle Films and Pine’s Barry Linen Motion Pictures. CAA Media Finance represents US sales.

Wildwood
Travis Knight directs the animated epic fantasy based on Colin Meloy’s 2011 novel about a headstrong teenager and her unlikely companion who set out to rescue her baby brother from an enchanted forest. Laika and Fathom Entertainment are partnering on the US theatrical release on October 23, and the stellar voice cast features Carey Mulligan, Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Mahershala Ali, Angela Bassett, Awkwafina, and Richard E. Grant.
