Film Movement has picked up North American rights from Pyramide International to the Chadian Cannes competition entry A Screaming Man.

Film Movement acquired Mahamat-Saleh Haroun’s French and Arabic language film in association with UK distributor Soda Pictures, who will handle the release in the UK and Ireland and bring it to the London Film Festival in October.

Film Movement plans a first quarter 2011 release in North America.

A Screaming Man won the jury prize at Cannes and centres on a 60-year-old man who struggles to contribute to his country’s civil war effort.

Pyramide head of sales Yoann Ubermulhin, Film Movement president Adley Gartenstein and Soda Pictures managing director Edward Fletcher brokered the deal.
