EXCLUSIVE: France tv distribution has acquired international rights to Aurelien Peilloux’s Chemical Bond, starring Galatéa Bellugi, Stefan Crepon and Emmanuelle Devos, and will launch sales in Cannes.

Memento Distribution will release Chemical Bond in France.

Bellugi stars as a brilliant and ambitious chemistry student starting her thesis at a prestigious laboratory with a famous and demanding scientist (Devos) who develops a friendship with her co-researcher (Crepon). They are studying a molecule that could become a revolutionary cure for depression, but the student faces a heart-wrenching choice when their project does not turn out as planned.

It is produced by Delante Productions and Melocoton Films and set to start shooting from the end of June until early August in Strasbourg and Lyon.

La Femis graduate Peilloux previously directed short film Les Chercheurs set in the world of neuroscience and continues to explore similar themes of ethics and research within the scientific community in his feature follow-up.

France tv distribution is also heading to Cannes with Antony Cordier’s Directors’ Fortnight selection The Party’s Over!, Singapore-set Second World War animation The Violinist and a slate that includes thriller The Price To Pay starring Ana Girardot and Olivier Gourmet, Nicolas Keitel’s Louise starring Cecile de France, and Gaya Jiji’s Pieces Of A Foreign Life starring Cannes best actress winner Zar Amir Ebrahimi.
