Kneecap producers DMC and Fine Point Films are cementing their relationship through an expansion of DMC’s Dublin enterprise DMC Entertainment.

Trevor Birney’s Fine Point Films is taking a strategic stake in DMC Entertainment. Tamryn Reinecke of Robin Fox Productions is also joining as executive producer to support the company’s expanding Irish development slate and manage international production partnerships.

The Fine Point Films investment aims to expand DMC Entertainment’s capacity and accelerate the slate of upcoming projects. DMC is run by CEOs Michael Fassbender, Daniel Emmerson and Conor McCaughan.

“Irish stories and storytelling have been at the heart of what we’ve built at DMC,” said a statement from the trio. “We are extremely excited to be ramping up our production capacity in Ireland with the help of Tamryn and Trevor, whose taste and instincts are a perfect fit for us.”

“We’ve long admired what the team at DMC have been building, and this partnership felt like a natural next step,” said Birney. “The Dublin office gives us a stronger footprint across the island and a bigger canvas for both companies. Ireland’s film and television industry, north and south, has captured global attention due to the distinctiveness of the work, driven by a combination of creative momentum, strategic investment, and a new confidence in the stories emerging from the island.”

“Ireland is producing some of the most distinctive film and television work in the world right now, and there’s real momentum behind the industry both creatively and commercially,” said Reinecke. “I’m excited to support DMC’s ambition to grow Ireland not just as an international production destination, but as a place to develop bold Irish stories that can travel globally.”

DMC and Fine Point Films were separately named in Screen’s Brit50 feature of leading UK independent production companies last year. The companies collaborated on Rich Peppiatt’s Kneecap, which won seven Bifas including Best British Independent Film, and the Bafta for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer.

Other DMC credits include Ronan Corrigan’s SXSW title LifeHack, Netflix feature The Kitchen, Charlotte Regan’s Scrapper and UK-Irish co-production Calm With Horses. Birney is currently producing Peppiatt’s second feature Bad Bridgets for Netflix.
