EXCLUSIVE: One year after a major rebrand from Memento International to Paradise City, the Paris-based international sales and production outfit has confirmed Nicholas Kaiser as head of acquisitions and coproduction.

Kaiser officially steps into his new role at EFM, after joining the company in 2008 as a sales agent and rising the ranks to become COO in 2015, overseeing the group’s global operations and later transitioning into leading the development of Paradise City’s production slate.

“The aim is to maintain a boutique approach to both our sales and production slates to maximise quality, visibility, and market potential,” said Kaiser.

He said the group will continue to leverage all financing possibilities thanks to its presence in both France and the UK and ties to the US industry. “In such a complex and crowded marketplace, the key is to precisely target talents and projects, and to support them creatively and financially in bringing their vision to the screen in a way that is both fresh and audience-savvy.”

Paradise City is attending the EFM with Berlinale Competition titles Warwick Thornton’s Wolfram and Anthony Chen’s We Are All Strangers, as well as Mees Peijnenburg’s A Family in the Generation section.

It also has a robust market slate that includes Judith Godreche’s A Girl’s Story and Martin Provost’s romantic comedy Love Lessons. On the production side, it is fresh off a Sundance premiere for Moshe Rosenthal’s Tell Me Everything and is shooting Babak Jalali’s A Town In Nova Scotia, with Lili Horvat’s My Notes On Mars in post.
