On Your Lap, the feature directorial debut of Indonesian actor Reza Rahadian, won four trophies at Busan International Film Festival’s Vision Awards.
At an awards ceremony in Busan on Thursday (September 25), the film was honoured with the KB Vision audience award, Fipresci award, Bishkek International Film Festival’s Central Asia Cinema award and Face of the Future award. They included a combined cash prize of $21,000 (KRW30m).
The film, which received its world premiere at Busan, follows a young mother who flees to a small coastal village to build a new life and makes money serving coffee while having to sit on male customers’ laps. Director Rahadian is one of Indonesia’s leading actors, with more than 70 films to his name, winning five Citra awards. The film, known locally as Pangku, is set for release in Indonesia on November 6.

It also plays in the New Directors competition of San Sebastian.
