Basketball star Stephen ‘Steph’ Curry is leading the voice cast of Sony Pictures Animation’s sports comedy feature GOAT, which showed first footage today at Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
Curry, who is also producing the film for his Unanimous Media, is joined by Caleb McLaughlin, Gabrielle Union, Nick Kroll, Nicola Coughlan, David Harbour, Jenifer Lewis and Patton Oswalt.
Currently in production, the film is directed by Tyree Dillihay, co-directed by Adam Rosette. Sony Pictures Animation will release the film theatrically in the US on February 13, 2026, in collaboration with the National Basketball Association (NBA) and timed to the NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles.
GOAT follows Will, a small goat who gets a once-in-a-lifetime chance to play roarball – a high-intensity, full-contact sport dominated by the fiercest animals in the world. His teammates aren’t thrilled about having a little goat on their team, but Will is determined to revolutionise the sport.
Erick Peyton is producing the film with Curry for Unanimous Media, with Michelle Raimo Kouate, Adam Rosenberg and Rodney Rothman for Modern Magic.
David Schulenburg is co-producer, with executive producers Rick Mischel and Fonda Snyder.
Curry is one of the greatest players in the history of men’s basketball – an 11-time All-Star, four-time NBA champion, two-time MVP, and 2024 Olympic Gold medallist.
He is the all-time leading scorer for the Golden State Warriors, and is widely recognised for changing the way the game is played with his three-point shooting.
Curry launched Unanimous Media in 2018 with Peyton. The company previously made Apple Original Films’ 2023 documentary Stephen Curry: Underrated, about Curry’s career. It debuted at Sundance Film Festival and was released by A24 in the US.
Annecy got underway yesterday (Sunday, June 8), and continues this evening with the world premiere of Andy Serkis’s Animal Farm.
