EXCLUSIVE: Theatrical rights to Amalie Atkins’ Agatha’s Almanac, a portrait of a 90 year old woman lives a fiercely independent life, driven by her passion for gardening, have been bought in Cannes by Benelux’s Bantam Films and Taiwan’s Joint Entertainment from France’s Lightdox.
The documtentary premiered in CPH:DOX and also screened at Hot Docs.
“We have a lot of theatrical interest in this film,” said Lightdox CEO Anna Berhollet. “It one that can really drive audiences because of the lifestyle aspect.”
Lightdox is also seling Robin Hunzinger’s Ice Grave, the story of explorers who set off to the North Pole in a hot air balloon in 1897 and never returned, and Monica Strømdahl’s Flophouse America, about a bright young child being brought up in poverty by alcoholic parents in a motel.
