2026 TIFF Tribute Awards honourees (L-R): Penélope Cruz, Lee Chang-dong, Isabelle Huppert, Siân Heder, Rosalind Eleazar

Penélope Cruz, Lee Chang-dong, Rosalind Eleazar, Isabelle Huppert, and Siân Heder will receive TIFF Tribute Awards on September 13 as the festival announced its first wave of honourees on Wednesday.

Cruz receives the TIFF Special Tribute Award and starred in A24’s Sundance and box office hit The Invite. She can be seen in two TIFF selections: Cannes breakout La Bola Negra from Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi, and Florian Zeller’s Bunker opposite Javier Bardem and Stephen Graham. 

South Korean auteur Lee will collect the TIFF Ebert Director Award and attends the festival with the Special Presentations North American premiere of his latest film Possible Love, which premieres in Venice. His filmography includes previous TIFF selections Burning, Oasis, and Secret Sunshine.

Fast-rising UK actor Eleazar receives the TIFF Tribute Performer Award and stars in Chris Rock’s TIFF Galas world premiere Misty Green, returning to the festival after 2019 selection Personal History Of David Copperfield. Her credits include Emmy winner Slow Horses.

Huppert also receives the TIFF Tribute Performer Award and attends with the world premiere of Marc Fitoussi’s comedy and Gala screening All About Corinne. Her previous TIFF selections are Elle, Things To Come, Greta, and Frankie.

Heder will collect the TIFF Tribute Award in Impact Media and has directed the festival’s opening night world premiere Being Heumann. Her previous feature Coda won the best picture Oscar in 2022.

The annual awards gala fundraiser will take place at Fairmont Royal York Hotel.
