Fortissimo Films has picked up worldwide rights, excluding Japan, to Takashi Shimizu’s 3D The Rabbit Horror.

Christopher Doyle is DoP on the film, marking the first time the acclaimed cinematographer has worked with 3D.

Currently in post-production for a summer 2011 release, the film explores the relationship between a young boy and his favourite stuffed toy animal which comes alive to terrify him. The film is produced by Satoru Ogura and scripted by Sotaro Hayashi, Daisuke Hosaka and Takashi Shimizu.

The cast is headed by Hikari Mitsushima (Love Exposure) and Teruyuki Kagawa (Tokyo Sonata).

Producer Satoru Ogura negotiated the deal with Fortissimo chairman Michael J. Werner and director, marketing, Asian acquisitions & sales, Esther Yeung, both of whom will serve as executive producers.
