A biopic retracing the life of the singer Claude François is currently shooting in France, while Matthias Hoene [pictured] will unleash zombies across London from Monday.

Jérémie Renier will star as Claude François, the songwriter behind the original version of the English ‘May Way’, in Florent Emilio Siri’s Cloclo. The feature is currently shooting in Belgium and will relocate to Morocco in April followed by Monaco, Menton and Paris. Produced by Cyril Colbeau-Justin and Jean-Baptiste Dupont for LGM Cinéma with Belgian Fleche Productions, it also received co-production support from TF1 and StudioCanal. Studiocanal also holds international rights and will release in France in 2012. uDream has been appointed as the distributor for Belgium.  The biopic received financial backing from Canal +, CinéCinéma, Coficup and Tax Shelter - Belgium.

Matthias Hoene will start principal photography on his horror comedy Cockneys Vs Zombies on Monday (21), which centres on a bank robbery and a 350-year-old vault full of hungry zombies. It will star Harry Treadaway, Michelle Ryan, Honor Blackman and Jack Doolan. Scripted by James Moran and Lucas Roche, the film is produced by James Moran and Lucas Roche for Optimum Releasing and The Tea Shop & Film Company. SC Films International handles international sales.

Italian director Gabriele Salvatores is currently preparing the shoot for Siberian Education (Educazione Siberiana), a drama which looks at the adolescence of the Russian writer Nicolai Lilin within a community of ‘honest’ criminals (Siberian Urkas) in the final years of the Soviet Union. Co-produced by Cattleya and Universal Pictures International, shooting is expected to commence in August in Vilnius, Lithuania. The screenplay, based on Nicolai Lilin’s autobiography, was written by Stefano Rulli and Sandro Petraglia.
