Ed Speleers and Will Poulter will star in Plastic, while Scott Free Productions has plans to adapt The Fishing Fleet.
Speelers and Poulter will star alongside Alfie Allen, Danny Trejo and Sebastian De Souza in Julian Gilbey’s Plastic, which will commence shooting on January 7. The Gateway Films-produced thriller centres on two university students who run a credit card fraud scheme, but when they steal from the wrong man, the boys find themselves threatened by sadistic gangster. They soon need to raise £2m and pull off a daring diamond heist to clear their debt. Based on the true story of an audacious diamond heist, the screenplay was jointly written by Julian Gilbey, Chris Howard and William Gilbey.
Scott Free Productions has acquired the film rights for Anne de Courcy’s The Fishing Fleet, a social history of husband hunting in the Raj, describing the exploits of young British women sent by the boatload to India to find love and marriage. Liza Marshall will produce.
