Reliance Entertainment and Kintop Pictures have acquired film rights to The Paladin Prophecy, Mark Frost’s forthcoming young adult trilogy to be published by Random House Children’s Books.

Reliance will work with Frost, a novelist and screenwriter who co-created Twin Peaks and co-wrote both Fantastic Four films, to develop a screenplay based on the first book. Frost will also executive produce the film, targeted for a 2014 release.

The first of the novels, about a young man with unusual abilities who is thrust into a world of secret societies and supernatural conflicts, will be published on Sept 25.

In a statement that described the deal as “seven-figure,” producer Deepak Nayar of Kintop/Reliance said: “We are thrilled to be in business with a master storyteller like Mark Frost. “These books align perfectly with what the international motion picture audience is looking for.”
