Summit Entertainment has acquired Boaz Yakin and Edward Ricourt’s spec script for the cat-and-mouse heist thriller Now You See Me.

Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will produce through their Kurtzman Orci Paper Products label and Yakin will handle executive producer duties with Kurtzman Orci Paper Products’ Bobby Cohen. Summit acquired rights from CAA.

Now You See Me pits an FBI unit against a gang of illusionists who rob banks during their performances and give the proceeds to audience members.

Yakin most recently co-wrote the screenplay to Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time and will next direct the thriller Safe starring Jason Statham, which IM Global introduced to buyers at the Cannes market.

Kurtzman and Orci most recently wrote Star Trek and are working on the follow-up with Damon Lindelof. They are also writing and producing the upcoming comic book adaptation Cowboys And Aliens set for release in July 2011.

Summit’s president of production Erik Feig, senior vice-president of acquisitions and co-productions Michael Schaefer and creative executive Ashley Schlaifer will Oversee for the company.

Yakin, Ricourt, Kurtzman and Orci are represented by CAA. Yakin is managed by Cinetic Media and Ricourt is managed by The Gotham Group.
