Paris-based film financier Backup Media’s new content and rights management software Movie Chainer is proving a hit in the market.

Since its launch on April 30, the Movie Chainer site has attracted 1,500 unique visitors and signed up 250 subscribers.

The cloud-based application allows rights-holders to track contracts, generate exploitation and availability reports and calculate revenue splits and repayment schedules.

“We expected it to take off slowly but the response has been overwhelming… we’ve had some really big companies coming to us,” commented Jean Roman, who developed the project at Backup and is demonstrating the software at the Producers Network meeting today.

Under a deal with Cannes market, registered Cinando users are being offered a free trial of the software for up to three film titles. After that, three levels of subscription are on offer at $99 for ten films, $329 for 20 films and $649 for more than 50 pictures.
