Produced by Richard Bates, Martyn Auty and Francesca Barra, for Life And Soul Pictures, Oradour is based on Robin Mackness’ 1988 non-fiction book about the massacre of 642 French villagers by SS troops in 1944.

Production is due to begin this summer on $20m thriller Oradour, based on real life events in Nazi occupied France. 

Produced by Richard Bates, Martyn Auty and Francesca Barra, for Life And Soul Pictures, it is based on Robin Mackness’ 1988 non-fiction book about the massacre of 642 French villagers by SS troops in 1944. David Gilman has written the script. 

The film will be completed next year, to coincide with the re-opening of an investigation of the masacre by German War Crimes Prosecutors. 

Casting is currently underway for the project, which will shoot on location in France and Switzerland with studio shoots in the UK.
