Venice Critics’ Week opener scheduled for an early 2012 release

Swedish drama Stockholm East, which opened Venice Critic’s Week, has been picked up by ABC Cinemien for distribution in Benelux.

ABC Cinemien will handle the release in The Netherlands with Cinemien sibling ABC-Distribution distributing in Belgium and Luxemburg.

Simon Kaijser Da Silva’s debut film is a love story about two strangers who embark on a dangerous and passionate journey after meeting at a railway station connecting capital Stockholm with the idyllic suburbs where they both live.

“We immediately fell in love with Simon Kaijser Da Silva’s compelling and very, very strong debut feature. This is kind of Scandinavian cinema people love, and we’re sure the Benelux audiences will love, too,” said Luc Freyer, Sales & Acquisition, ABC Cinemien.
