This will mark the first collaboration between the two Icelandic film-makers, Kormakur’s Blueeyes Production label announced on Friday [4].

Kormakur’s partner Agnes Johansen will also produce what will be Kari’s first Icelandic language film since Noi Albinoi. His recent works include The Good Heart and Danish-language Dark Horse.

Rocketman will be a co-production with Nimbus Film of Denmark and is scheduled to start production in February. Screen announced the project in December 2011.

Kormakur is currently in post in Los Angeles on 2 Guns with Mark Wahlberg and Denzel Washington and is preparing to shoot the HBO pilot The Missionary in Eastern Europe.

“We are very excited to kick off a new project with Dagur,” said Johansen. “We think he’s a great talent who has already developed his own special style”.

The Blueeyes slate includes Silence Of The Grave based on Arnaldur Indridason, whose bestseller Jar City was adapted by Kormakur. Blueeyes and Lava Bear Films are collaborating on an English-language remake of the thriller.

Viking is an epic adventure epic based on the Icelandic Sagas from screenplay by Kormakur and Olafur Egill Egilsson. The slate includes Independent People, Mules, Life In The Basement and TV series The Trapped. The production roster features Everest with Working Title.

Blueeyes recently partnered with Dadi Einarsson and the VFX company Framestore. Framestore Iceland opened in summer of 2008 and has worked on sequences in Baz Luhrmann’s Australia
