River Road has set Catherine Hardwicke to direct The Age Of Miracles based on Karen Thompson Walker’s coming-of-age bestseller.

The story takes place against the backdrop of potential extinction as Earth’s rotation slows down and an adolescent girl navigates her way through a family drama. Seth Lochhead adapted the screenplay and River Road founder Bill Pohlad will produce.

Hardwicke recently completed production on the thriller Plush and is currently directing the CBS pilot Reckless.

Christa Zofcin negotiated the Age Of Miracles deal on behalf of River Road. Hardwicke is represented by Manage-ment and CAA.

River Road is in post on Steve McQueen’s Twelve Years A Slave, which it emerged this week will open in the US on Dec 27 through Fox Searchlight, and is preparing the Brian Wilson project Love & Mercy alongside John Wells Productions.
