Disney and its wholly-owned Marvel Studios have spoken out against a religious liberty bill in the state of Georgia.
The studio has threatened to boycott production in the state if Governor Nathan Deal approves the Free Exercise Protection Act.
Both AMC Networks, which is preparing to shoot the seventh season of The Walking Dead in Georgia in May, and Viacom have urged the Governor to dismiss what critics are calling a discrimination law.
The proposed legislation states that no minister could be forced to perform a same-sex marriage, while no faith-based organisation would be forced to extend social, educational or charitable services to anybody in violation of its religious beliefs, or forced to hire anybody whose religious beliefs or practices violated its religious beliefs.
Governor Deal has until May 3 to make his decision, however Disney has already made up its mind and declared that it will shoot future productions elsewhere if he passes the bill into law.
Marvel Studios shot the upcoming Captain America: Civil War and Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 in Atlanta, Georgia, as well as Ant-Man.
There was press speculation on Tuesday that while a statement issued by Disney only mentioned Marvel Studios, its other companies would likely boycott production in the state too.
