The partners are turning the YouTube sensation into a 3D feature and Lionsgate will produce alongside Brian Robbins and Sharla Sumpter Bridgett of Varsity Pictures and Gary Binkow and Evan Weiss of The Collective.

Production is underway in Los Angeles with John Fortenberry directing from a script by David A Goodman. The Collective CEO Michael Green serves as executive producer. Lionsgate is handling international sales.

The fast-talking character created by teen actor Lucas Cruikshank appeared in the 2010 Nickelodeon film Fred: The Movie. Cruikshank will reprise his starring role as the fast-talking, hyperactive boy.

“Fred’s journey from internet character to media star has been nothing short of astounding, and we’re excited to partner with Lionsgate to bring the second feature film based on Fred’s hilarious adventures to life,” Robbins said.
