Kevin DeWalt’s Canadian entertainment venture has acquired rights to the Canadian comic book superhero from writer Richard Comely.

The first issue of Captain Canuck hit newsstands in May 1975 and since then has sold more than two million copies through 26 editions.

“I have always been a big fan of Captain Canuck and we are honoured to be working with Richard on bringing Canada’s greatest superhero to the big screen,” DeWalt said.

“I’ve had a great beginning with Minds Eye,” Comely said. “I’m confident we can make a movie that will appeal to audiences both in Canada and around the world.”

Minds Eye’s upcoming features include Faces In The Crowd starring Milla Jovovich.
