Imagenation Abu Dhabi and Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald of Parkes/MacDonald Productions have acquired Earthbound by cult writer Richard Matheson.
Earthbound is the first project to be optioned completely by Parkes/MacDonald Imagenation, the joint venture announced last October.
Parkes, MacDonald and Keri Selig will produce and Lindsay Devlin will serve as executive producer.
Ronnie Christensen’s adapted screenplay centres on a married man who is seduced by what may be a ghost. Parkes/MacDonald executive Marc Resteghini brought in the project.
Matheson’s stories include I Am Legend, Hell House, What Dreams May Come, and A Stir Of Echoes.
Parkes MacDonald/ Imagenation recently partnered with DreamWorks on The Museum Of SuperNatural History and Eat, Sleep, Poop: A Common Sense Guide to Your Baby’s First Year written by pediatrician Scott W Cohen.
The joint venture provides financing for the development of film projects with an initial $10m revolving fund. The fund invests in future Parkes/MacDonald projects developed under the producers’ first-look deal with DreamWorks Studios, as well as directly with Imagenation Abu Dhabi or with other major studios.
