UPDATE: The Man On Carrion Road heads to AFM and marks the second of a two-film agreement under which Atlas Independent will produce, MICA Entertainment will finance and Relativity International will sell.

Screendaily broke news of the partnership on the eve of Cannes last May, when Timothy Olyphant was attached to star.

Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego will direct from Nils Lyew’s script about a border town sheriff who teams up with his retired predecessor to investigate a Mexican cartel butcher in the wake of a botched deal.

Production is set for March 2014 in the US and William Green, Aaron Ginsburg and Andy Horwitz of Atlas Independent will produce.

The first film in the two-title deal is Mojave, which recently wrapped and is written and directed by William Monahan and stars Oscar Isaac and Garrett Hedlund.

Lopez-Gallego directed the upcoming Open Grave for Atlas Independent, the subsidiary of Charles Roven’s Atlas Entertainment.
