Stealth Media Group to handle international sales on UK-Australia co-production.

Stealth Media Group has boarded international sales for Robert Connolly’s mystery thriller The Riders, which is set to star Sam Worthington, Charles Dance, Alexandra Maria Lara and Timothy Spall.

Producers are Susie Brooks-Smith, Robert Fox and Tim White.

Michael Hirst, Francesca Brill and Susie Brooks-Smith wrote the script, based on Tim Winton’s bestselling novel.

The film is about an Aussie expat (Worthington) who prepares to start a new life in Northern Ireland with his wife and young daughter; his wife goes missing and he travels across the globe in search of her.

The UK-Australian co-production will start shooting Feb 4, 2013 on location on the island of Korcula (the Dalmation Coast) and in Budapest.

Worthington said, “I have always been a fan of Tim Winton’s work and The Riders is fierce about life, emotionally moving and deeply thrilling. I can’t wait to explore this with the talented Robert Connolly.”

Connolly added: “It has always been one of my favourite novels. It is a wonderful gift for any filmmaker to get the chance to direct such an extraordinary work. Sam Worthington is perfect for the role of Scully. For a number of years we have shared a passion about making The Riders together. We are looking forward to our collaboration on this iconic Australian story. It’s also an exciting opportunity to work with the exceptionally gifted Alexandra Maria Lara and Charles Dance.”
