The director’s screen adaptation of Yasmina Reza’s Tony award-winning comedy The God of Carnage is now shooting in Paris, starring Kate Winslet and Christoph Waltz.
Jodie Foster and John C. Reilly also star in the film, about two sets of parents, one of whose child has hurt the other at a public park. They meet to mull over the matter but, as the evening goes on, the parents begin to bicker among themselves.
Polanski has co-written the script for the adaptation with Reza.
“As soon as I saw the play I thought it would make an exciting movie,” said Roman Polanski in a statement. “It’s a challenge to make a film in real time, without a single ellipse.”
Carnage is set up as French-German-Polish co-production between SBS Productions, Constantin Film Produktion and SPI Poland. SBS is handling the international sales on the film, which has already been sold to a number of territories including to Wild Bunch in the UK, France and Scandinavia, Constantin in Germany, Medusa in Italy, Cineart for Benelux, Village Roadshow in Greece and Swen in Latin America.
ICM is handling sales in the US and Canada.
