Bafta and Academy Award-winning directors Beeban Kidron and Errol Morris [pictured] have been commissioned to produce feature-length films for Sky Atlantic’s Footprint strand.

Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit director Kidron is making In Real Life (working title), which explores how modern youngsters create a sense of identity. The Soho Angel Films-produced doc will investigate the impact of growing up in an increasingly public world.

Morris, who is behind The Thin Blue Line, is to explore the life of a former US secretary of defense in The Unknown Unknowns: The Life And Times Of Donald Rumsfeld.

The Moxie Pictures, History Films, Radius TWC and Participant Media co-production, which will air exclusively on Sky Atlantic in the UK, will follow the controversial politician’s career from his memories of Pearl Harbour to his two terms in government.

Both feature-length docs were ordered by Sky head of factual Celia Taylor with Sky Atlantic channel director Elaine Pyke.

They will form part of the Footprint strand, due to kick off next year, which will feature up to 12 landmark docs including Nick Broomfield’s South Central.
