WestEnd Films has secured more deals on forthcoming Stephen Frears film Tamara Drewe

UK sales outfit WestEnd Films has closed an eyecatching deal with leading Australian company Village Roadshow for Tamara Drewe, the forthcoming Stephen Frears film.

The deal comes in the wake of Berlin’s European Film Market, where WestEnd was screening a promo of Tamara Drewe, a satirical drama about a city girl returning to the country and her past, starring Gemma Arterton.

Tamara Drewe has also now been sold to Smile Entertainment in Scandinavia.

WestEnd has already done deals on the new Frears feature with Midas (Portugal), with Pasatiempo (for Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria.), with AQS (for the Czech Republic), Seven Group (Greece), and VTI (ex-Yugoslavia.) As announced last year, Sony Pictures Classics took North American and Latin American rights to the film at script stage.

Post AFM and last month’s Berlin EFM, WestEnd has been wrapping up further deals on Rodrigo Garcia’s Mother And Child. The film has gone to Barunson (Korea), CP Digital (Russia), Phantom (Japan), Ster-Kinekor (South Africa), Sun Dream (Hong Kong) and Universum (Germany.)

Hideo Nakata’s Chatroom has gone to CP Digital (Russia) and Multimedia (Portugal).

The Disappearance Of Alice Creed has been snapped up by Dutch Filmworks (for Benelux) by Longride (Japan), Shapira (Israel) and Sun Dream (Hong
Kong.)
