EXCLUSIVE: Voltage Pictures has closed a slew of deals on the upcoming Matthew McConaughey drama Dallas Buyers Club, which Focus Features is preparing for a US awards season launch later this year.
McConaughey stars in the Voltage Pictures and Truth entertainment production based on the story of Ron Woodroof, who took a stand against government corruption and traded in life-prolonging alternative medicines after he was diagnosed with HIV.
Voltage has closed deals in France (TF1), the UK (eOne), Germany and Switzerland (Ascot Elite), Australia and New Zealand (Pinnacle), Latin America (Universal), CIS (Cinema Prestige), Italy (Good Film), Scandinavia (Mislabel), Canada (Remstar), Japan (Fine Films), Hong Kong (Cineworld), Singapore (Shaw), Taiwan (Datang International) and India (Pictureworks).
Voltage has also licensed rights to the Middle East (Gulf), Benelux (Independent), Portugal (Lusomundo), Poland (ITI), Indonesia (PT Parkit), Thailand (IPA), Turkey (Medyavizyon), Baltic States (Acme), Iceland (Myndform), South Africa (Crystal Brook), Israel (Shoval), Greece (Feelgood) and Cinesky for Airlines.
Jennifer Garner, Jared Leto and Steve Zahn also star in Dallas Buyers Club and Jean Marc-Valleé directed from a screenplay by Craig Borten and Melisa Wallack.
Robbie Brenner and Rachel Winter produced and the executive producer roster includes Tony Notargiacomo and Joe Newcomb of Truth Entertainment, Logan Levy, Holly Wiersma, Voltage’s Nicolas Chartier, Cassian Elwes of Evolution Entertainment and Zev Foreman. The film is in post.
