Myriad Pictures chief Kirk D’Amico has taken on international sales to Ed Burn’s romantic comedy Nice GuyJohnny heading into Toronto.

Burns wrote, directed and stars as a rascal who shows his nephew a good time in the Hamptons as the younger man plans to take a high paying job to satisfy his fiancée. Matt Bush, Anna Wood and Kerry Bishe star.

Burns produced with Aaron Lubin and William Rexer II. The film premiered at Tribeca earlier in the year and will open in the US on October 26 with an extensive marketing plan developed by the producers with Cinetic Media subsidiary FilmBuff.

“Ed is a brilliant and humorous storyteller who builds fully-formed characters from everyday life,” D’Amico said. “He’s done an amazing job directing Matt and Kerry, whose performances are wonderful.”

Myriad’s Toronto slate includes Jacob Tierney’s thriller Good Neighbours – set for a world premiere here next week [14] – as well as financial thriller Margin Call with Kevin Spacey, adventure The Cup starring Brendon Gleeson, the Liev Schreiber and Helen Hunt drama Every Day, and Sundance audience award winner happythankyoumoreplease.
