Finnegan’s Foursome

Ireland’s Galway Film Fleadh (July 7-12) has unveiled the first wave of titles in its 2026 lineup, alongside Estonia as this year’s country spotlight.

Edward Burns’ Finnegan’s Foursome, which filmed along Ireland’s west coast, will receive its European premiere after first playing at Tribeca, and is the festival’s closing night film. It follows two middle-aged brothers and their sons as they travel to Ireland on a golfing trip. Burns also stars, alongside Brian d’Arcy James.

Rebekah Fortune’s Galway-shot Learning to Breathe Under Water will have its Irish premiere, which stars Rory Kinnear and Maria Bakalova. The comedy drama, set to world premiere at Karlovy Vary, follows an eight-year-old who is mourning the death of his mother, five years ago, while his father swings between manic creativity and anxiety.

Adam Morris’ Irish-Australian drama Almost With You, featuring songs by Declan O’Rourke, and Oisín Mistéil’s Sheffield DocFest world premiere rugby documentary Try! are also in the lineup.

This year’s festival will shine a spotlight on Estonia as its country of focus, presenting a curated programme of contemporary Estonian features, documentaries and shorts, including doc Becoming Roosi, in which filmmaker Margit Lillak follows a girl for 10 years, first playing last year at Thessaloniki International Documentary festival.

The full Galway Film Fleadh programme will be announced on June 23.
