
Heading into the launch year for TIFF: The Market Geoff Macnaughton has been promoted to VP, market programming & theatrical alongside upwards moves for two other TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) executives and three hires to the senior management team.
Macnaughton, a TIFF veteran of more than 16 years, oversees film, series, and innovation programming initiatives for the official market and continues to expand TIFF’s support of episodic creators and content. He will continue to programme the Primetime section of the festival and also leads TIFF’s year-round theatrical business.
Keith Bennie has been at TIFF for more than 14 years and is promoted to VP, public programming and audience engagement and leads an expanded roster of TIFF Lightbox programming that includes Cinematheque, Next Wave, Community Impact, talks and subscription series, marquee series, and the Film Reference Library.
Alyssa Kornet started at TIFF 15 years ago and is promoted to VP, operations and production. In an expanded role she leads teams across visitor experience, festival services and volunteers, event experience and hospitality, technical production, ticketing services, and facilities, and will also oversee the implementation of TIFF’s sustainability strategy.
The following have joined TIFF’s senior management team: Amit Khanna, Chief Financial Officer; Matthew MacDonald, VP of digital transformation; and Charles Tremblay, head of TIFF: The Market.
Khanna brings more than 15 years of finance experience across the not-for-profit, public, and professional services sectors. Before joining TIFF he was CFO and head of technology at Peel Children’s Aid Society, and held senior roles at Deloitte and MNP.
MacDonald is a digital and technology veteran who designed and led the digital transformation department at Wellington-Altus while advancing the firm’s early AI innovation. He has held consulting roles at the likes of Protiviti and EY.
Tremblay is the head of TIFF: The Market and brings more than 20 years of experience in acquisitions and distribution in Canada. Prior to his appointment in late August he served at Mubi. He co-founded Metropole Films Distribution with Mongrel Media and co-launched with mk2 the distributor mk2 | Mile End, becoming president of Sphere Films until 2024 after the joint venture was acquired by Sphere Media.
TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey said of the six executives: “Each of these leaders brings exceptional skill, vision, and commitment to our mission.
