
Berlinale selection The Ballad Of Judas Priest and Sundance World Cinema Grand Jury Prize winner To Hold A Mountain will screen in Special Presentations at Toronto’s Hot Docs (April 23-May 3).
Both films receive their Canadian premieres. The Ballad Of Judas Priest from Sam Dunn and Tom Morello first screened in Berlin’s Special Midnight section and profiles the career of the legendary British rockers and in particular the journey of frontman Rob Halford.
To Hold A Mountain from Biljana Tutorov and Petar Glomazić follows a shepherdess and her daughter in the Montenegrin highlands who defend their ancestral home in from becoming a NATO training facility.
In total 13 films from 16 countries were announced on Tuesday (March 10). They include world premieres for Broadway producer Dori Berinstein’s Kenny Loggins: Conviction Of The Heart about the prolific singer-songwriter whose Hollywood hits include Footloose and Danger Zone; and The Tower That Built A City by Canadian filmmaker Mark Myers, celebrating the 50th anniversary Of Toronto’s CN Tower.
Mehrdad Oskouei’s A Fox Under A Pink Moon, an immigration story that won International Documentary Festival Amsterdam’s best film in international competition last November and shot entirely on an iPhone, gets its North American premiere.
Among the roster of Canadian premieres are Sundance selections The Oldest Person In The World from Sam Green and Time And Water from Fire Of Love director Sara Dosa. Maya Annik Bedward’s imminent SXSW world premiere Black Zombie examines how zombies went from Haitian culture to Hollywood horror.
Hot Docs will announce the full line-up on March 24.
