Production will wrap next week in London on an untitled new feature film by Mike Leigh.
Marion Bailey, Paul Jesson, Kate O’Flynn and Alice Bailey Johnson are leading the cast of the film; no details on the plot are available yet.
As announced last year, Bleecker Street is handling US distribution on the title, with Studiocanal releasing in the UK. Both companies released Leigh’s previous film Hard Truths in January last year.
Georgina Lowe is producing the new film for her Thin Man Films, with Gail Egan as executive producer. The film is co-financed by Film4 in association with Desmar, Merino Films, Ventureland and Creativity Media.
Cornerstone is handling international sales on the film, with rights sold to Switzerland (Frenetic), Benelux (Cherry Pickers), Greece (Spentzos), Middle East (Italia), Turkey (Mars), Australia-New Zealand (Transmission) and ex-Yugoslavia (MCF).
Hard Truths debuted at Toronto in September 2024, going on to festivals including San Sebastian, New York, BFI London Film Festival, Goteborg and Rotterdam. It received two Bafta nominations, for outstanding British film of the year and leading actress for Marianne Jean-Baptiste.
