EXCLUSIVE: Pinnacle Peak Pictures’ Ron Gell arrives in Berlin with an EFM sales slate featuring Oscar-nominee Ethan Hawke and two new titles under the wide-appeal Panoramic Pictures subsidiary – Dolph Lundgren and Rachael Leigh Cook action thriller Straight Shot and sci-fi Zoners with Christopher Lambert.
Straight Shot also stars Pinnacle Peak co-founder David A.R. White (A Line Of Fire, God’s Not Dead franchise) and Tyrese Gibson (Fast And The Furious franchise) and follows a bodyguard past his prime who fights through a skyscraper full of mercenaries to save his ex-fiancée trapped inside an experimental coffin.
Lundgren’s credits include Rocky IV, The Expendables franchise, and Universal Soldier, while Cook has starred in She’s All That, Josie And The Pussycats, and Get Carter. The film screens in the market from Thursday through Sunday. Gabriel Sabkloff directed.
The upcoming Zoners centres on a desperate young woman forced to drive a mercenary and a stolen alien device through a land infested with monsters. Besides Lambert, who starred in Highlander, Mortal Kombat, and Ghost Rider, the cast includes Kim Bonifay from The Pitt and The Sex Lives Of College Girls, and Bogdan Farcas from Unidentified and Watcher. Stephan Zlotescu directs the film, which screens on Friday and Saturday.
Pinnacle Peak EVP of international sales, distribution and acquisitions Gell will also continue talks on She Dances starring Steve Zahn from Anaconda and The White Lotus and Hawke, who is nominated for the lead actor Oscar for 2025 Berlinale world premiere Blue Moon. Hawke will attend the festival with the European premiere of Depression-era drama The Weight following its world premiere in Sundance last month.
The comedy drama follows a single father who tries to reconnect with his teenage daughter on a road trip to a dance competition. The cast includes Mackenzie Ziegler from the horror sci-fi series Let Us In, Rosemary DeWitt from Smile and Poltergeist, Sonequa Martin-Green from Star Trek: Discovery and The Walking Dead, and Zahn’s daughter Audrey Zahn. Pinnacle Peak holds worldwide rights and will distribute theatrically in the US on March 27
“With audience favorites such as Steve Zahn, Ethan Hawke, David A.R. White, Dolph Lundgren, Rachael Leigh Cook and Christopher Lambert starring in our films, we are looking forward to a successful EFM,” said Gell.
