IM Global has hired The Last Exorcism director Daniel Stamm for 13, its remake of the Thai horror thriller 13: Game Of Death.

Stamm and writing partner David Birke are currently adapting the screenplay, which IM Global CEO Stuart Ford aims to take into production in early 2012.

The original film satirised media culture and follows a cash-strapped salesman gets trapped within a macabre reality show in which he must solve 13 tasks en route to a massive cash prize.

Ford will produce alongside Brian Kavanaugh-Jones of Automatik, IM Global’s production joint venture with Alliance Films, and Kiki Miyake.

Miyake’s Little Magic banner brought the project to IM Global vp of acquisitions Amal Elwardi. Regular IM Global collaborator Jason Blum is serving as executive producer with Somsak Techaratanaprasert from the original film’s producer Sahamongkolfilm.

“Daniel is one of the most talented young genre directors in the business and we’re really excited to see what he and David can do with such darkly riveting source material,” Ford said.

IM Global and Automatik are currently in production or post-production on 10 features including Jason Statham thriller Safe, Sylvester Stallone action project Bullet To The Head and Welcome To The Punch staring James McAvoy.
