Trinity to distribute, co-finance Graham Chapman project

The film is based on a memoir by Monty Python’s Graham Chapman, who died in 1989, and the production will reunite members of the Monty Python gang.

Trinity is also co-financing the film.

Mark Sandell, co-director of Trinity and executive producer on A Liar’s Autobiography said: “Trinity are immensely proud to be involved with this fantastic project, working not only alongside the Pythons, but also with EPIX, Bill and Ben Productions and Brainstorm Media – to help bring the unique talents of this extraordinary man back to a global audience.”

The 3D animated feature tells the story of Chapman’s life in Python style.

The feature is being produced and directed by Bill Jones, Ben Timlett and Jeff Simpson of London-based Bill and Ben Productions.

“We’ve been working closely with the Chapman estate and the Pythons to make sure we get this exactly right,” said co-director Jeff Simpson. “Graham would be delighted that his work is being re-imagined in glorious 3D.  He always loved wearing silly glasses.”

“I had no idea until recently that Graham Chapman is in fact dead—I thought he was just being lazy,” added Monty Python’s Terry Jones. “However, I am now delighted to find myself working with him again on this exciting project.”

EPIX, which is one of the producers via its new EPIX Pictures banner, will host the world television premiere in both 2D and 3D on EPIX and EpixHD.com, also in the spring of 2012.

Executive producer Meyer Shwarzstein of Brainstorm Media will distribute the animated feature in the United States.
